Different Ways in Which You Can Attach Extensions to the Hair

When you decide to have hair extensions put in, you should weigh all the pros and cons of the different methods that it could be done. You should put into consideration the type of you hair, the length you want to get, the budget you have and the maintenance. And to help you with that, we have made a list of the ways in which you can get your extensions put in and some more information about each of them.

Tape attachments

One of the most popular methods is by using double sided tape. This method was originally used for toupees, and it’s actually a cheap but quite effective one. The double sided tape helps getting the full hair wefts attached relatively quickly. When the extensions are applied properly, they lay flat and can be washed, blow dried and styled. Tape extensions can last for weeks and even months, depending on the quality of the tape, the type of hair used and the products used for washing, conditioning and styling.

Cold fusion

Hot fusion is a popular method too, but lately, cold fusion is preferred because it works well with thin, fine or fragile hair. It’s applied in a different way and with a different machine. The cold fusion is usually more expensive than the hoe one, but when it’s done right, it can become invisible in hair that normally might not be capable of handling traditional hair extension application methods.

Beads or similar

If you don’t want to go with tape attachments, fusion, glue, braiding or similar, you can choose the bead or locking methodology. The extensions are attached to the base of the hair with tiny beads which are snapped in place with special machines. As with every other method, the beaded or locking one has its pros and cons. The most common issue here is that not everyone’s hair is thick enough to cover up the beads.

Combination of attachment methods

There are some situations in which more than one attachment method can be used depending on the amount of hair that’s being added, its type and the pre-existing issues with bald spots, thinning hair or similar.
